Hi, I’m Dr. G. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about my work and approach. I know you have many options when choosing a mental health provider, and I’m honored you’re here.
As a licensed psychotherapist specializing in neurodiversity and trauma recovery, I work with individuals and families ages 15–64 navigating Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, PTSD/C-PTSD, anxiety, and chronic illness. Clients often seek support to manage the challenges of living in a largely neurotypical world, heal from trauma, regulate emotions, strengthen relationships, and gain guidance in parenting neurodivergent children.
My approach is individualized, trauma-informed, collaborative, and neurodiversity-affirming. As a neurodivergent therapist and the parent of an autistic young adult, I bring both professional expertise and lived experience to this work.
Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our blended neurodiverse family, running, hiking, practicing yoga, and exploring Colorado’s outdoors.
I understand that reaching out for support can be difficult, and I look forward to learning how I can help.
My Therapy Approach
Over the years, my approach has been described as compassionate, curious, kind, genuine, patient, and safe. We all tend to acquire unhelpful patterns in how we think, feel, and act. This is true for all ages and stages in life, and you are not alone. Often, these unhelpful patterns develop instinctively as we try to make sense of our experiences and as we seek safety during times of stress, imbalance, chaos, and disconnect. The goal of therapy is not to fix you but rather to provide a safe space for you to explore these unhelpful coping skills while supporting you to make meaningful shifts to manage your own internal and external experiences. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, so I individualize every therapeutic relationship and generally blend a mix of the following evidence-based approaches in which I have extensive training: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), EMDR, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family Systems Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (ERP), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Gottman Method for Couples, and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
My intention is to validate and normalize your neurodiverse experiences in a world that, more often than not, doesn’t truly get it. In our time together, we will explore how you can better attune to your own needs and relationships. We will get curious about how you can live more authentically without masking, while regulating your nervous system, and cultivating emotional safety within yourself and with your loved ones. We will safely work together to heal your traumas. Your story matters here, and it would be my privilege to hold space for it. My promise to you is to show up fully in our sessions together while honoring your own individual needs.
My Professional Journey
Prior to working as a licensed psychotherapist, I obtained a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Special Education and worked in public school settings as a Teacher, Preschool Director, Early Childhood District Coordinator, and then as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in private practice and community agencies. I have over a decade of experience working within this educational and behavior therapy context. And, in this work, I noticed a significant need for a more affirming and trauma-focused approach to supporting the mental health needs of our neurodivergent community. As a result, I obtained a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D) and my dissertation focused on studying the effects of applying Acceptance and Commitment Therapy techniques to improve emotional regulation and anxiety management in those living with Autism Spectrum Disorders. I then pursued Post-Doctoral training at Denver Family Institute and became a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Colorado. Through this work, I learned that true healing happens in the context of secure relationships. Ultimately, these career shifts felt truer to my hearts calling in providing holistic, trauma-focused and affirming mental health care for neurodivergent individuals and families.
